Summary

High-dose-rate (HDR) gynecological brachytherapy can replace low-dose-rate (LDR) treatment without compromising outcomes. This is achievable with small fraction numbers if critical tissues are adequately spared, challenging conventional radiobiological assumptions.

Background:

The linear-quadratic (LQ) model is widely used to compare different radiation fractionation schedules.
