Providing Palliative Home Care during COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown in India

Summary

Despite COVID-19 lockdowns, palliative homecare visits were possible. CanSupport provided essential medication and pain management to 847 patients by following safety guidelines during the pandemic.

Background:

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted medical services in India, including palliative care.
Palliative care providers like CanSupport transitioned to tele-consultations to ensure patient and staff safety during lockdown.

To assess the feasibility of continuing palliative homecare during the COVID-19 lockdown.
To establish criteria for essential home visits to vulnerable patients.
