Summary

Background:

A 74-year-old woman presented with eruptive keratoacanthomas, including masked facies, ectropion, and pruritus.
Histological examination confirmed the characteristic architecture of keratoacanthoma.
Cell proliferation kinetics showed increased division, prolonged DNA synthesis time, and decreased generation time.

Findings:

Histology revealed typical keratoacanthoma architecture.
Ultrastructural analysis showed intracellular desmosomes and dermal fibers.
The patient responded well to aromatic retinoid Ro 10-9359 therapy.

Implications:

Aromatic retinoids may be an effective treatment for eruptive keratoacanthomas.
Understanding proliferation kinetics aids in characterizing this condition.
Further research into the ultrastructural features could reveal new therapeutic targets.
