Enhancing the biodegradation of hydrophobic compounds in nonaqueous-phase liquids (NAPLs) is crucial. Surfactants and soil slurrying show potential, but effectiveness varies with the specific compound and NAPL. Vigorous agitation can significantly boost degradation rates.
